Texas Bluesman, Johnny Nicholas and his Hell Bent band returns to the Richard Sale Barn this Saturday, March 18 as the second concert in the 2017 Spring Series. The Barn is located at 1307 S. Henry St. in Abbeville and is always a smoke free concert. The doors open at 6 pm with the music beginning at 7 pm.
Johnny Nicholas is an amazing talent and has assembled a cast of stellar players for this Richard Sale Barn concert including local legendary musicians Sam Broussard and David Greeley (Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys) steel and slide guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Paul Butusical legends), drummer John Chipman (Band of Heathens), accordion and keyboardist Joel Guzman (Joe Ely), guitarist “Scrappy” Jud Newcomb (Ian McLagan, The Resentments).
Johnny can wow a festival crowd of thousands or a small room of devotees like at the Barn. He has shared the stage and performed with the likes of Howlin Wolf, BB King, Muddy Waters, Bonnie Rait, Eric Clapton, Pops and Mavis Staples, Delbert McClinton, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Jimmie Vaughan among many others.
The common thread between all of Nicholas’s influences is that he is a true storyteller and troubadour, a living connection to the roots of American music that started in the Mississippi Delta and continues to flow down the river of traditional and contemporary sounds.
But all you really need to know about Johnny Nicholas—is that he in one of the best bluesman and he brings that best to all of his concerts.
